Innovation in clinical practice is critical for overcoming healthcare challenges and improving patient care quality. Independent healthcare providers often lead in introducing novel treatments that complement NHS services. This award celebrates those providers who have delivered exceptional clinical innovations, particularly in areas where the NHS faces capacity or specialist shortages, thereby enhancing the quality of care and patient outcomes through new treatment protocols, advanced medical technologies, or unique care models.

Projects can be conducted independently or in collaboration with an NHS organisation. While a partnership with the NHS is encouraged, it is not mandatory. However, all projects must serve NHS patients and provide evidence from the past two years up until the awards deadline date.

Eligibility

  • Open to independent healthcare providers offering exceptional clinical services free at the point of care to NHS patients, particularly in areas where the NHS faces capacity or specialist shortages.
  • Projects can be conducted independently or in collaboration with an NHS organisation. While a partnership with the NHS is encouraged, it is not mandatory; however, all projects must serve NHS patients.
  • Evidence must be provided from the past two years up until the awards entry deadline.

  • Provide evidence of continued consultation and joint working throughout delivery.

  • Share success metrics, patient feedback and before-and-after comparisons.
  • Describe how the innovation improved efficiency, resource use or patient management.
